What you and your child can expect at the Activity Club
• When your child arrives they will be greeted warmly and made to feel welcome by the Sports Bug staff on duty at the time.
• At this point you will be asked to sign your child in and be given a special security number which you must quote when picking them up at the end of the session. This is for security reasons in case you need to ask a friend who we don’t know to collect your child.
• Your child will be given a name label so that the staff can get to know their names straight away. When they have been coming for a while and we get to know them then we may not give them a label.
• If Children arrive before 9.00 they can have a play with a variety of safe equipment on offer before the session starts at 9.00.
• On the first day all the Children will be given a brief guided tour of the facility to familiarize them with their surroundings before the session starts so they know where for example the toilets are.
• At the beginning of the day your child will be put in his or her age and ability related group. Each group is given a name chosen by that group sometimes according to what they had for breakfast.
• In a 3 hour period your child will experience approximately 3 different sports with lots of other type of activities mixed in.
• Throughout the week your child will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sporting activities such as Tennis, Football, Cricket, Hockey, Rugby, Golf, Basket Ball, Relay races, Athletics and other team games. The list is endless, varied and interesting.
• Children are encouraged to participate in all activities but not forced to. If they prefer to just do one particular sport then we will try our best to accommodate them depending on the nature of the groups at the time.
• If your child for any reason wants to have a rest and not participate at any time we provide a chill out area with bean bags, paper, pencils and colours etc for them have rest and take things easy.
• Children rotate from one activity to another in their group approximately every 45 to 50 minutes.
• Each group has at least 2 coaches to supervise the activities so there is always a spare person to escort children to the sports hall toilets or canteen. We never let any child go wandering off by themselves even if it’s a 10 metre journey.
• We appreciate that children dehydrate faster than adults so during the activities children are encouraged to drink plenty of water especially on a hot day.
• In between the activities the Children are encouraged to have a short break for about 10 minutes and snack where one or two members of staff will keep them occupied with a mind game such as eye-spy or guess the animal or person.
• Children staying all day will have an hour’s break and will eat their lunch in the canteen area or may have a picnic under a shady area of the facility.

• Your child needs to bring enough healthy snack and non fizzy drink to keep them going for the period of time that they are at the Activity Club.
• Children staying all day are required to bring a packed lunch as well as snack and drink. An Icepack is a good idea for keeping everything cool.
